While studying for engineering in college, I realized how much I disliked working with machines but how fascinated I was with the engine that drives us humans – our mind, our emotions, our beliefs.
My corporate life took off really well – I was fortunate to contribute to the growth of a company from 25 to 35,000 employees in the span of a decade. During this period, I was blessed to be exposed to various roles like leading large scale operations, corporate quality and consulting divisions.
At the peak of my career however, I hit mid-life crisis, a bit before mid-life. I felt this was not who I was meant to be and the success didn’t count for much. My health started deteriorating and more importantly, the sense of contentment was soon diminishing. So I quit my job. Through an exciting turn of events, I landed a role as the Executive Director at INK (that brought TED to India). I met some of the most amazing people from around the globe during that stint – artists, scientists, activists, athletes and more, people who were pushing the fringes of their domain. It was here that I met an amazing person who nudged me on through a series of conversations to find my purpose. I must say it did take quite a while after that for me to truly start moving in the direction of my calling.
Today I spend most of my time doing 3 things:
Help leaders find their calling. The joy, energy and clarity that comes as a result can only be experienced.
Help leaders who feel stagnant and work even harder with diminishing returns. I help catapult themselves at work by shifting mindsets, beliefs, by problem solving and bringing fresh perspectives.
Help individuals and corporates craft their personal or brand stories.
These might seem different but they are essentially the same. All of them need me to intensely connect with the person or group, cut through their layers and reach out to their beauty within.
They take the form of executive coaching, leadership group interventions or personal or corporate brand stories.
You might encounter an occasional tear, an occasional jubilation, a few a-has, but mostly inspired, thoughtful moments with a readiness to take action.
Am trained and/or certified in Lean, Six Sigma (Black Belt), COPC, PMP, Marshall Goldsmith Coaching, Tony Robbins Coaching and am alumnus of Harvard Business School. My clients include Google and InMobi among others.
But beyond all this it’s the fascination I realized I had from my engineering days, to connect with people, to share and to learn, that wakes me up each day.
